OPTC applied AI towards the biological wastewater treatment at Plant 2. The AI system predicts the efficiency of wastewater treatment. When the predicted efficiency declines, the system makes immediate modifications to stabilize the operation and stay on track with environmental goals. The first version of the smart biotreatment system was launched in July 2020. After multiple modifications and improvements, the precision of system predictions is rising. The AI model is programmed to learn on its own. In the future, the system will be able to provide operational assistance for staff.
