FEIS revamped its wastewater treatment system in 2022 in hopes of improving the post-treatment COD. A typical approach would be to enlarge the aeration tank and prolong the aeration period. However, an assessment indicates that installation of a membrane bioreactor (MBR) would improve treatment efficiency and performance. Without enlarging the aeration tank, FEIS reduced COD and suspended solids, increasing recycled wastewater by 75,000 kiloliters annually.
