Sponsoring Waste Fabric for Yuan Ze University in Taoyuan Land Art Festival
FENC donated waste fabric to the Department of Art and Design, Yuan Ze University. With enough fabric to make 250 T-shirts, the faculty members and students co-created art with local residents, turning waste into an artwork that was showcased in 2020 Taoyuan Land Art Festival.
The first Taoyuan Land Art Festival was held in 2013. Each year, the organizer chooses locations with unique landscape features as the venue for the event and invites design and art students from Taiwan as well as international artists to participate.

Water Connection Circle
“Water Connection Circle” was created by the students and teachers from the Department of Art and Design, Yuan-Ze University and the residents of Gaulian community, mainly Shuanglian Village Gaushuang Village, in Pingzhen district. The work has fused the features of textile mills and bamboo craft weaving art, both prevalent locally, and used residents’ dialy clothing and threads as the weaving materials to create circles with different sizes; the landscape of Taoyuan is presented by braid that is connected by the concentric circles of ripple and star-like weaving. When you walk on the Guoling trail at Shimen-Da-Chun, the “Water Connection Circle” will catch your eye and guide you to see the hidden coexistence between impounding reservoir, rice paddies, and historical courtyard house. Through the co-creation generated between people. Furthermore, the memory and imagining of people to this land have been connected.
