Cultivating Circular Economy

FENC focuses on the circular economy, its core strength, during stakeholder engagement to form deeper bonds and wider reach between the production sites and local communities through educational programs.

Continuously promoting environmental education

The campaigns include “The Transformative Magic of Circularity,” a free on-campus environmental education program; environmental education displays for Beitou Refuse Incineration Plant; co-hosting the Recycling Waste – Protecting the Future Festival with retailers in Vietnam. During each campaign, FENC presented high-value products made of waste PET bottles, including beverage bottles, sports apparel and athletic footwear. Participants experienced first-hand the economic value of reusing waste materials, which motivated them to recycle.

Infusing R&D energy

With a diverse product lineup, FENC established R&D Center in Taiwan and U.S. The two entities focus on the development of highly specialized products as well as the advancement and applications of recycling technologies. Product categories span high-functional polyester and environmental protection, etc. The Company also founded Innovation Direct to Market (IDM) and a cross-industry technological platform to align with the R&D resources from brand customers and fast-track the commercialization of innovative products.

Promoting green manufacturing

FENC takes pragmatic steps towards carbon reduction, establishing five major carbon-reduction strategies and building green operation through carbon-reduction pathways. In order to reach its 2030 GHG reduction targets, it is estimated that the Company will invest NT$19.4 billion and avert 132,000 tCO2ein carbon emissions.

Using low-emission fuel

FENC delves into the circular economy for over three decades, the Company upgrades its recycling technologies continuously, upcycling waste materials and turning them into a wide array of high-quality rPET applications. rPET resins made from post-consumer PET bottles cut GHG emissions by 63% compared to those of petroleum origin. FENC devotes long-term research and development efforts to biomass as a replacement for fossil fuels to minimize their environmental impacts. Products that are most representative of the fruit of this effort are bio PET, which is made of biomass materials.

Turning waste into valuable green product

Partnering with its customers, FENC develops the green solutions that tackle waste materials from the land, ocean and air, turning them into recycled materials that are looped back as green products. Applications include food and non-food packaging, functional apparel, shoe materials, home goods and automotive materials, giving new life to waste products.

Cultivating talents

FENC formulate functional training courses for different employee roles, and continue to provide training courses and learning activities in response to current trends. FENC launched three major programs focusing on the cultivation of sustainable, digital and global competence. The quarterly programs provide thematic learning and strategic talent training program.

Constructing the circular economy

With advanced green technology, FENC has created a sustainable business model. The model was first developed in 2019 from a collaborative effort with 7-ELEVEN Japan and Coca-Cola. Waste PET bottles collected from the 350 7-ELEVEN stores in Tokyo were remanufactured into rPET and subsequently new bottles filled with beverages to be sold at 7-ELEVEN, forming a 100% PET closed loop. This model has attracted significant future partnerships with major brands and organizations. The Company creat a closed loop in Taiwan and Vietnam and connect recycled products to people’s lives.
