FENC at TITAS 2020 - Together Let Us All Make Earth Cool Again

FENC at TITAS 2020 - Together Let Us All Make Earth Cool Again
SDG 8 DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTHSDG 12 RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTIONSDG 17 PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS

The 2020 Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS) was held between October 13th and 15th at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. Over 400 leading textile suppliers took the opportunity to showcase their innovations. This is one of the limited numbers of large-scale in-person international events during the pandemic.

FENC’s industry chain is extensive and products are diverse. Prior to the commencement of TITAS 2020, Eric Hu, President of Textile Business, hosted a press conference with more than 10 media companies on behalf of FENC to introduce products that will be showcased at the event. As the COVID-19 pandemic rages throughout the globe, the Company also won press attention and recognition with anti-pandemic products. Media exposure for the Company grew by 30% in 2020, and coverages were more in-depth. Media coverage featuring Company products and technology also grew by nearly 30%.

For those who are unable to attend the event in person due to pandemic travel restrictions, FENC pioneered the virtual showroom as a supplement to the brick and mortar exhibition. The virtual showroom is open for 1 year, featuring feature 7 themes with a multi-functional stage for product launch and educational lectures for students.

1. Personal Protective Equipment,PPE
FENC is the largest supplier of medical grade PE/PP and PE/PET composite fibers in the world. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Company has been producing 600 metric tons of materials needed by the national face mask production team each month, including the hydrophobic and hydrophilic materials for the outer and inner layers of the face masks. The production volume is enough for making 1 billion face masks. With vertical resource integration, the R&D team developed the series, FENC® Protective Life Wear. Products in this series include fabrics that can be used to produce AAMI PB 70 Level 4 gowns, the highest international standard for surgical gowns. The material prevents contamination from virus and body fluids and withstands repeated washing. It is also abrasion resistant, breathable and soft to the touch.

Additionally, FENC’s revolutionary PET material can be used to produce blood collection tubes and protective masks, which are essential in the fight against the pandemic. Blood collection tubes made of FENC’s PET is highly translucent, drop-resistant and easy to transport and store. FENC also produces protective masks using recycled PET film. Healthcare workers can be assured with clear vision while treating patients, and that their masks will not be fogged up from exhaling or speaking.

2. Sustainability
As far back as 32 years ago, FENC started investing resources in developing technology that remanufactures recycled PET bottles into containers, textiles or other materials. In recent years, the Company continues its steady strides toward green economy and environmental protection. Utilizing both chemical and mechanical recycling, FENC expands applications of PET to offer more green solutions for customers.

FENC collaborates with adidas and Parley for the Oceans on the ocean plastic recycling campaigns. The effort is expanded in 2020, intercepting 6,000 metric tons of ocean plastic. With this green material, adidas introduced the limited edition Primeblue series, Ultraboost 20 City Pack. Its fashion forward design that combines environmental protection and trendiness has been very well received on the consumer market.

In a research by Ellen MacAuthur Foundation, it is pointed out that there will be over 22 million metric tons of microplastics in the ocean by 2050, which is a crisis that threatens the marine habitat and food chain. The biggest source of microplastics is the manufacturing process of synthetic fiber. To mitigate the increase of such pollutant, FENC developed FENC® Non Shedding Fleece. With 3D weaving technology, performance fibers are woven into the textile to prevent the shedding of microplastics, which minimizes the impact on the environment. FENC® Non Shedding Fleece is a Top 10 winner in the of ISPO TEXTRENDS 2020.

3. Innovation
FENC never ceases to innovate. We constantly seek solutions to enhance sustainability. At TITAS 2020, we showcased FENC® Eco Fusible Bonding Yarn, which is compatible with available shoe upper materials currently on the market. FENC® Eco Fusible Bonding Yarn supports the shoe upper and adds stiffness. It is durable and abrasion resistant. Presently, most shoe upper materials are not recyclable. FENC® Eco Fusible Bonding Yarn will help make fully recyclable footwears a reality.

The new generation FENC® EM2 Spun Yarn requires less pigment and shorter dyeing process to achieve the same color fastness. Comparing to conventional polyester, the dyeing process reduces carbon emission by a stunning 40%. With its exceptional suppleness, the material adds more comfort to the consumer experience.

In addition, FENC developed the cutting edge TopGreen® ChemCycle technology in 2020. With this technology, waste PET bottles and other PET products are transformed into rPET resins. With comparable quality to that of virgin PET resins, the material has been adopted by Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc.

4. Best Sellers
FENC’s recycled fiber has been a favorite for producing sports jerseys for international sports events. During TITAS 2020, FENC featured the sports jersey for the latest soccer season as well as the jerseys that team England wore to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. FENC’s wind resistant fiber quickly  pulls moisture away from the body, helping athletes maintain comfort and enhance athletic performance during sports events.

FENC® Nylon 6,6 Solution Dye Filament gives fabric a beautiful shine without  the actual dyeing process. This product dramatically reduces the use of chemical dyes, additives and water. It also removes the need for wastewater treatment associated with dyeing, and has become the material of choice for high-end yoga apparels and outdoor recreational goods on the international market.

5. Industry Fabric
Applications of FENC products have been expanded beyond consumer goods such as apparel, packaging, home textile and medical materials. Auto and industrial applications are also among this versatile mix. Safety is a priority in the auto industry, and the Company’s industry fabric has met IATF 16949:2016 standards. It is now used by major auto part manufacturers to produce safety belts, air bags and tire cords.

6. Classics
FENC® Hycare and FENC® High Power Stretch Fabric, two timeless classics from the Company, are also featured this year. FENC® Hycare can be used to produce non-woven fabric. Its production has been optimized to prevent contamination and provide consistent quality. It has replaced resin to be a widely used material in medical and health care products. FENC® High Power Stretch Fabric is known for its wickability, which allows athletes to stay dry during training. Exceptional elasticity and muscle support make it a popular material for fitness apparel during running, spinning, yoga and other forms of exercise. Our classic products offer options and convenience for consumers.

7. Smart Textile
Another FENC spotlight at TITAS 2020 is virtual gaming. Visitors had the opportunities to wear game suits and play interactive boxing games. The smart arm and waist bands are the results of a perfect union between carbon nanotube membrane and FENC’s innovative technology. The infrared sensor melts the line between virtual and actual boxing rings, demonstrating FENC’s innovation in smart textile technology.

As the titan of the textile industry, FENC’s showroom design incorporates epitomizes the Company’s vertical integration and global deployment. The product line up across its conglomerate offers one-stop shopping, which is a definitive strength. Looking into the future, FENC will continue to build green supply chains with international corporations. It is our hope to enhance brand value and safeguard the environment with innovative and sustainable development, creating win-win with customers and consumers into the new century!
