MOU between FEMH and UIN Jakarta
On September 5, 2022, Chu-Wen Chang, Vice President of FEMH, signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN Jakarta) on behalf of FEMH. The MOU entails academic, cultural, language and talent exchange as well as talent cultivation and clinical training. UIN Jakarta is among the top ten higher education institutions in Indonesia, offering programs in medicine, health sciences as well as science and technology.
FEMH started undertaking Medical Cooperation and Industrial Development Program Under the New Southbound Policy for the Ministry of Health and Welfare in May 2022, and this is the first signing ceremony since. Through this exchange, FEMH aspires to demonstrate Taiwan’s soft power in health and medicine. In October 2022, the dean of the college of medicine of UIN Jakarta and the president director of the Social Security Administrator for Health (BPJS Kesehatan) of Indonesia attended the international seminar in celebration of FEMH’s 41st anniversary.
Though in-person communications were disrupted by COVID-19, technological advancement has kept cross-border medical collaborations uninterrupted. Over the past two years, FEMH has been sharing the pandemic-fighting measures implemented at the hospital and in Taiwan with the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Belize; Office of the President of Nicaragua; Ministry of Health of Vietnam; PBJS Kesehatan of Indonesia, and the hospital has received wide acclaims. It was mentioned during the meeting with BPJS Kesehatan that the Indonesian government was interested in collaborating on the development of telemedicine and training for medical personnel. In the future, FEMH will be forwarding information regarding reputable suppliers of medical and information technologies, helping the Indonesian authority gain a deeper understanding of the healthcare industry in Taiwan and laying the groundwork for industry collaborations.
